The shampoo/conditioner bar worked well. No tangles in my long hair!Alright, so it took me a long time to get used to this shampoo bar and figured out what the heck was I doing. I have dry, color treated naturally curly hair (not super curly but not wavy in any way). At first I got frustrated with it because it left waxy residue and what it felt like knots everywhere. I wanted to throw it at the bathroom wall annoyed at it because it made my curls stick to one another. However, I had already spend the money and needed to figure out a way to make this darn thing work for me. So I tried for weeks to get the right combo for my hair. It turns out that this is not a bar shampoo that I can just get in my hair and rinse out. I have after weeks come up with this routine.-First use a mild natural hair shampoo on my hair and THEN use this bar shampoo over it.-Leave it for 3-5 minutes in my hair like a conditioner.-Rinse the mixture out. DO NOT OVERLY TRY TO GET IT OUT. Just rinse it (don't try to comb it either).-Use a light natural conditioner to try to get the waxy feeling out and get the curls un-stuck (comb it using a wide tooth comb or my favorite a detangling brush such as this http://www.amazon.com/Benair-Detangling-Multi-height-Bristles-Staggered/dp/B00OTLOHY6/ref=sr_1_13?ie=UTF8&qid=1426673281&sr=8-13&keywords=detangling+hair+brush) to get some of still stuck curls). Sometimes this step is not needed.-Rinse the conditioner out-DO NOT COMB AFTER SHOWER (which to me is the hardest part to be honest because I am used to it).Okay, so I realize after all this that this is not a shampoo is more like a treatment for my hair. After I sorted out this mess it works wonders. I mean it looks like I have curls made my a curling iron for like 2-3 days (I don't repeat the whole thing for those days. One day I do not wash my hair, the second day I wash it ONLY with the light natural conditioner. Hair is bouncy shiny and looks healthy without any other product (except on the second day I use a little of hair oil to keep frizz down).Fluffy, tangled straw. That's exactly how my hair feels after using this shampoo. There are a few things I did like about this bar, but overall it was pretty disappointing.**Disclaimer - I have straight, fine, shoulder length hair. I tried this bar with BOTH well water (which is very hard) AND city tap water (from my mom's house). Both types of water produces exactly the same results. The nice thing about this shampoo bar is that it lathers beautifully. It's a thicker, more luxurious foam than any shampoo I've ever tried. It also rinses quickly and easily, using much less water than traditional shampoo. It also works - as in, it will definitely clean your hair. That's about the only nice things I can say about this shampoo. I've tried washing my hair with this bar a few times now (first with the hard water, then the city water), and my hair STILL looks and feels like straw. There's also a disgusting waxy residue on my hairbrush. Before this I've only ever used regular shampoo and conditioner. I don't use any styling products at all, and I've never had gunk on my hairbrush. After using this bar, my hairbrush is nasty. I had to scrub it repeatedly with dish soap just to get it clean. Yuck. This shampoo may rinse out easily, but it leaves wet hair feeling like a tacky, sticky mess. It's IMPOSSIBLE to run my fingers through my hair when wet. I can get a brush through it, but only if I work in tiny increments starting at the bottom. And when my hair dries, it feels dried out, tangled, and still a little gummy. Remember in the 80s & early 90s when everyone's hair was teased out and fluffy? That's what my hair looks like, only in a 'finger in a light socket' kind of way. Trust me - it's not pretty. My other big problem is that this is NOT unscented as the label says. It may not have any ADDED scent, but the bar itself definitely has a smell. It's the same thing as "sugar-free" vs. "no added sugar." This bar SHOULD have been labeled "no added perfumes." The oils in this bar definitely have a strong scent even without any added scent. It wasn't unpleasant, but it was strong enough to give me a headache.I know people say it takes a while for hair to adjust to natural shampoos, but this is ridiculous. It's like this shampoo bar completely STRIPS my hair of any and all moisture - and leaves it tangled and gummy. In all fairness, I haven't tried using this bar with a conditioner (so maybe that would improve it), but I get the impression from the product description and other reviews that you aren't supposed to NEED a conditioner with this type of shampoo. I don't know - but the bar on it's own is WAY to harsh.I definitely regret this purchase. I bought it because I was looking for an unscented shampoo, but this bar is a pretty big disappointment.Somewhere in my internet travels I came across the "no poo" movement. I went through a few phases: I started with baking soda "shampoo" and ACV rinses before I learned baking soda is too harsh, then I tried water only for a while until I realized no amount of time would balance my greasy mop... so I looked for more natural, sulfate-free shampoos that were affordable. I tried
